ForsVC is open for pitching

A new year brings new opportunities!

In order to further put the Belgian game industry on the international map, Howest, De Cronos Group and BNP Paribas Fortis are combining their expertise in a new investment fund: ForsVC. Their primary focus rests on talented Belgian game companies that need a boost. In the coming years, an amount of 15 million euros will be set aside for this purpose and they have opened the submission form for the first round of applications.

Why was ForsVC started?

The 2021 games market has generated revenues of around $180.3 billion, up +1.4% over last year and it shows no signs of stopping. With a growing global market of around 3 billion gamers, the importance and impact of the video game industry is increasing year after year.

We also see more and more Belgian companies joining the market and with Digital Arts and Entertainment in Kortrijk we even have an award-winning school churning out high-quality developers.

Our local industry isn't quite reaching its full potential, however: a lot of talent is disappearing abroad because Belgium is lagging behind the rest of the world. There is a need for a stronger local ecosystem of game companies.

That is why ForsVC, the first Belgian venture capital fund with an 'absolute focus' on the Belgian video game industry, wants to make capital available for promising game companies.

In order to realise their own video game productions, most game studios are forced to also provide external services for other sectors. But building a successful game requires time and focus. ForsVC wants to ensure that game studios can concentrate more on what they were founded for and what they are good at: developing games.

Submissions are open

Studios can submit their info in an online form to be considered for the next pitch round in Antwerp, at the start of March. After this, there will be two more pitch rounds this year, one in Brussels and one in Kortrijk.

What does ForsVC offer?
Investments in Belgian games through revenue-based lending as well as direct equity investments in early-stage and mature Belgian game studios.
